Built in 1987, nestled in the middle of the Columbia Community this comfortable split-level home was enjoyed by a family living there for over 30 years. “This house is one full of memories -- of many a night cheering on the local sports teams, hours spent at the kitchen table doing homework or having dinner, or outside on the deck with family and friends for get-togethers. No matter where I end up in this world, no matter where I end up settling down, this house will always be home.”
From the entry, straight ahead you see the newly built large Redwood deck. The remodeled kitchen has granite counters, newer cabinets, stainless steel appliances and from both enjoy views of the East Bay Hills.
On the left, engineered hardwood flooring adds a contemporary but formal touch to the living and dining room areas along with vaulted ceilings. Large ceramic tiles greet you at the entry and they flow into the dinette and kitchen areas. There is abundant natural lighting throughout the common area through expansive vinyl low E glass windows and sliding doors.
The lower level access is a few steps down on the right with a spacious family room, engineered hardwood floors, fireplace and entry to the backyard. There is also a sufficient area for a large TV. Off of the family room is a full bedroom and full bathroom. The laundry is down the hall and access to the garage at this level as well.
Upstairs is a spacious master suite, master bath with dual sinks, separate bath/shower area and a large walk in closet. There are two spacious bedrooms and full guest bathroom as well. Baseboards and new carpeting were recently installed throughout the upstairs. Other updates include, vinyl bathroom flooring, mirrored medicine cabinets, all cabinets freshly painted.
Columbia is a wonderful neighborhood for many reasons. Here are further comments from this lovely family.
“We moved to this house when I was nearly two years old, so naturally, I didn't know anything different for my entire childhood-- and I wouldn't have it any other way. Our neighborhood -- full of friends, classmates, and acquaintances -- always felt like a safe space. On summer days, we would congregate at the Columbia pool for hours, making new friends and having a great time. Less sunny days were spent walking around the park or going over to a friend's house -- never more than a few minutes away from home.”
Additionally, homeowners enjoy gathering in the front yards, chatting, sharing stories, watching their families grow and especially knowing that neighbors look after each other. Frequently, residents take long walks to the park or head up the hill to enjoy views of the East Bay Hills, canyons, Bay view, city lights and evening sunsets.
The Castro Valley school system is excellent and was recently recognized as a California Exemplary District for 2017-18 school year
